October is Manufacturing Month

The month of October is National Manufacturing Month. Manufacturing Month is dedicated to highlighting manufacturing, the opportunities the industry holds, and the economic impact it has. The State of Wisconsin is heavily involved in Manufacturing Month.  This year, they are holding a Manufacturing Tour around the state, in which different business and topics will be highlighted.  Topics include skilled worker shortage, career opportunities, policies, and the impact of the industry. One of the tour stops is right here in Wausau, at Linetec.  Here, the tour will highlight the impact that the manufacturing industry has on the economy in Wisconsin. The State is also doing a “Coolest Thing Made In Wisconsin” program.  16 manufacturers around the State showcase their product, and in a “March Madness” style bracket, will determine the Coolest Thing. Manufacturing Month is important to our state and to the future of manufacturing as we know it.

For this reason, we choose to celebrate Manufacturing Month.  Tomorrow, October 3rd, we will be a tour host for this years Heavy Metal Tour. The Heavy Metal Tour was started in 2012 by CWIMMA (Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturer’s Alliance) to present and draw students to a career in skilled trades. We aim to show students that manufacturing careers are a great opportunity for them. This will be our 5th year with the tour. We are also hosting our 2nd Annual Manufacturing Day Open House on National Manufacturing Day, which is held on October 5th. We are the only Central Wisconsin Host once again this year. We are also excited to announce that we are a finalist for the 2018 Manufacturing Excellence Award. This award gives recognition to area manufacturing businesses who are doing the right things to move the industry and the region forward. The award will be presented on October 16th.  Finally, to cap off the month, we will be heading to Akronon the 24th and 25th. If you are in the Ohio Area, stop by and check it out!

We are excited to have a month dedicated to our industry, and are happy to be as involved as possible.  We always welcome the opportunity to educate and secure the future of manufacturing in the state of Wisconsin and the Central Wisconsin Region
